40th Anniversary Guestbook

What are your fondest memories of your time at USC Upstate? Were you part of the University community when it was known as “The Branch,” USC Spartanburg or USCS? Did you meet your spouse in freshman biology? Did you score the winning basket in a big game? Were you a member of the faculty when the University was first founded?

We want to hear from you and learn why USC Upstate holds a special place in your life story. Post your memories, maybe even a photo, and tell us what the University means to you.

The University has always had a special place in the life of my family. Every night we heard the latest story about lobbying the politicians and the legislature, defending the vision of the County Commission for Higher Education, calling the White House to get funding released, reaching agreements with the Columbia main campus, hiring, starting new construction, and announcing progress in the newspaper -- with the goals of training nurses for our area and improving the quality of life for the region through education. Dr. Hodge continues to ask for daily updates about events and happenings at the University of which he is so proud.

I am a USC Upstate Alumni. I am writing you because an issue of University Review was sent to my home. I was really excited to see the changes that took place and wanted to ask you to recognize our Chancellor. I always saw that he was a great leader and takes the time to let us know what he plans to do next. Please recognize Chancellor Stockwell for his dedication to USC Upstate. Here is a little something I wrote.

In recognition of the University of South Carolina Upstates' 4oth Anniversary, much praise goes to Dr. Stockwell. I have seen the transformation. It's been nine years now and each year has more excitement than the one before. Each issue of the University Review reminds me of the ever present changes that Dr. Stockwell has brought. Dr. Stockwell exemplifies perfection. I've seen Dr. Stockwell doing more each year. The University of South Carolina Upstate stands because of Dr. Stockwell. The University has become successful because of Dr. Stockwell. Dr. Stockwell is and always will be a celebration.
