PREFACE - Freshman reading and writing series
First-year students at USC Upstate this fall can learn about the history of rock and roll, watch films from the 1960’s, meet a renowned American author, and gain important academic skills, all as a part of PREFACE, the University’s first-year reading and writing series. The PREFACE program chooses one book each year for students in English 101 classes to read, write about, and discuss. Then, students can participate in a host of special activities throughout the year aimed to help students better understand the culture and impact of the book. The PREFACE events coincide with the 40th Anniversary celebration of USC Upstate, which was founded in 1967.
Vietnam Veterans Memorial
As part of its 40th Anniversary Celebration, the University of South Carolina Upstate is making plans to bring The Wall That Heals, an exhibition featuring a 250-foot replica of the original Memorial in Washington, D.C., to its campus. The wall will be on display April 17-20, 2008 and is open to the general public.
