The iconic building features a gold dome atop its structure

1973

G.B. Hodge Center 

Hodge Center
Named for Dr. G.B. Hodge, chairman emeritus of the Spartanburg County Commission for Higher Education and one of the community leaders instrumental in the founding of the University.

 

Library

Library
Also houses Tukey Theatre, named for Richard E. Tukey, former Chamber of Commerce Executive and one of the community leaders instrumental in the founding of the University

1976

Burroughs Child Development Center

Named for William J. Burroughs, a founding member of the Spartanburg County Commission for Higher Education

1978

Media Center

Child Dev Center
Also houses the studios of WRET-TV, a station of the South Carolina Educational Television Network

1982

Mary Black School of Nursing

Mary Black School
Named for Mary Black Phillips and Miss Rosa Black, who played a key role in funding the building’s construction

1984

Horace C. Smith Science Building

Smith Science
Named for South Carolina State Senator Horace C. Smith

1990

Humanities & Performing Arts Center
Houses the state’s only collegiate theatre equipped with WYSIWYG virtual lighting lab

1992

John M. Rampey Center
Named for John M. Rampey, director of management development at Milliken & Company who is credited with the successful application that won Milliken & Company the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 1989

1995

Campus Life Center
A gathering place for student groups, community meetings, receptions, etc.

1997

Palmetto Villas
An apartment-style housing complex reserved for USC Upstate upperclassman

2002

Susan Jacobs Arboretum
Named for Susan Jacobs, a nursing graduate and community leader

Louis P. Howell Athletic Complex
Named for Louis P. Howell, a founding member of the Spartanburg County Commission for Higher Education

County University Soccer Stadium
Home to the perennial national power men's soccer program and the consistently strong women's program

Spartanburg County Youth Soccer Fields
A facility built in coordination with Spartanburg County Parks and Recreation

Cyrill Softball Stadium
Named for Frank Cyrill, who played a key role in funding the stadium’s construction

2003

University Readiness Center
A one-of-a-kind partnership between USC Upstate and the S.C. National Guard, which the two institutions share

P. Kathryn Hicks Visual Arts Center
Named for P. Kathryn "Katie" Hicks, a professor of art at USC Upstate for more than 30 years

2004

Cleveland S. Harley Baseball Park
Named for Cleveland S. Harley, a founding member of the Spartanburg County Commission for Higher Education and one of the community leaders instrumental in the founding of the University

Palmetto House
A new suite-style, coeducational residence hall that houses 348 freshmen

2005

Tennis Complex
A lighted, 12-court facility that has been the home to four NCAA Tournaments and two Peach Belt Conference Championships

2008

Health Education Complex ~ Currently Under Construction
A $24 million facility that will house the Mary Black School of Nursing, School of Education, Wellness/Fitness Center, Enrollment Management and Bookstore
