Susan Davis resides in Inman, SC, and is a native of the area. She received her master of music in piano pedagogy from Converse College in 2006, where she studied with Melanie Foster Taylor. Prior to graduate work, Susan received her bachelor of arts in music, piano, from Converse College in 1990 and an associate in arts from Spartanburg Methodist College in 1987. In 1989, Susan studied with Rita Sloan at the Aspen Music Festival in Aspen, Colorado. She has also studied piano with John Erickson, Richard Cass, and Hao Huang.
In 2004-2005, Susan participated in master classes with Menahem Pressler of the Beaux Arts Trio and Kenneth Drake. In addition to performing in benefit concerts for Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina victims, she also performed in the All Steinway Celebration at Converse College. Susan currently holds the position of assistant vice president of the Rho Chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda, a National Music Honors Society, is a member of the South Carolina Music Teacher's Association and the Asheville Area Piano Forum. Susan regularly performs in solo and duo recitals and presents piano music programs for various civic and community organizations as well.
From 2000-2007, Susan taught piano at Spartanburg Methodist College along with a private studio for 15 years. Susan teaches applied piano, group piano, and music history at The University of South Carolina Upstate and music history at Spartanburg Community College. In addition, she is the choir director at Gramling United Methodist Church in Gramling, SC.
