The University of South Carolina Upstate Visual Arts program is dedicated to quality and integrity in educating students. Important to any program is the ability to evolve with the ever-changing landscape of technology, theory and cultural attitudes. It is the goal of the USC Upstate program to attract and maintain a faculty of recognized professionals active in their fields of specialization, support program development appropriate to the discipline, develop and maintain instructional facilities and equipment current to the curriculum, attract students that seek higher education to prepare for professional career options, develop a commitment to lifelong-learning and prepare to participate in a global world, and serve as a facilitator to bridge education with the community at large.

TRANSFER APPLICANTS
Application Process: Students transferring from another college or university follow the standard USC Upstate University procedures for application and acceptance to the University as listed in the academic catalogue and online. The transcripts of a transfer student are evaluated by the Chair of Fine Arts and Communication Studies and must meet the same requirements for the BA Art and BA Art Education programs as listed in the Programs and Entrance Requirements.
PREREQUISITE STANDARDS
Prerequisites for course registration are listed in the University catalogue under Course Descriptions. The USC Upstate Visual Arts program endorses prerequisites of courses as listed. Students not meeting prerequisite standards may be dropped from a course or receive academic penalty.
FOUNDATIONS PROGRAM: Foundation courses are designed with rigorous instruction to prepare students for subsequent program and course development. Foundations courses are an integral component of the major and require a minimum grade of “C” for credit.
LAB FEES: Lab fees for shared /course materials will be imposed and managed by the University under tuition and fees.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Current scholarships in Visual Arts are listed in the USC Upstate University Academic Catalog under the heading of Scholarships.
