Bachelor of Arts in Spanish
The study of foreign languages and literatures lies at the very center of the humanities. Foreign language majors not only acquire skills in reading, writing, and speaking foreign languages, but they also explore and develop an appreciation for the literatures and broader cultures of foreign lands and peoples. The Spanish program offers students the opportunity to study the language and literature of the Hispanic world, including both Peninsular and Latin American cultures.
As part of the University's comprehensive curriculum revision in 2007, the Spanish curriculum has been revised for the 2007-2008 Academic Catalog. Students who enrolled prior to 2007-2008 should be sure to use the Major in Spanish Student Worksheet from the catalog under which they enrolled at the University.
A minor in Spanish is also offered, requiring students to complete 18 hours of courses, with at least 12 hours of upper level Spanish courses.
