Division of Natural Sciences & Engineering

The Division of Natural Sciences and Engineering provides degree programs in Biology, Chemistry and Engineering Technology Management.  A variety of pre-professional options, research opportunities, and internships are also supported.

Three Bachelor of Science degree programs are offered, a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology Management. The Biology and Chemistry degrees are typically completed in four years of full-time enrollment. The Engineering Technology Management degree provides Junior and Senior-level courses for degree completion as part of a 2+2 program in conjunction with participating SC Technical Colleges. In addition to the three degrees, students can choose to minor in biology or chemistry. Courses in the sciences support the majors and provide general education courses and support courses for the School of Education and the School of Nursing. Specific courses are offered either every semester, every year or every other year. Some courses are also offered at night and/or during the summer.

A popular choice for students are pre-professional options such as pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, and pre-physical therapy. These and other pre-professional programs are designed to meet the requirements for entry into professional programs. Depending upon the program, either a B.S. degree is completed at USC Upstate before entering professional training at another institution or students complete a prescribed set of prerequisite undergraduate courses at USC Upstate before leaving to complete professional training elsewhere.
