Pre-Chiropractic

The USC Upstate pre-chiropractic program is designed to meet the admission requirements for Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, S.C.

USC Upstate has a 3+1 program with Sherman College to enable a student to complete Sherman admission requirements at USC Upstate, enter Sherman College and receive a bachelor's degree from USC Upstate after satisfactory completion of the first year at Sherman.

Sherman College Admission Requirements and Information:
A minimum of 90 semester hours is required for admission to Sherman College.
Of the 90 hours required for traditional admission, 24 must be life and/or physical sciences with corresponding labs for half, and 15 hours must be in the humanities, social and/or behavioral sciences. 

Chiropractic school requirements for traditional admission:

  • 90 semester hours with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • 24 semester hours in life and physical sciences, half with substantive lab component, with a grade of “C” or higher 
  • 15 semester hours in humanities, social and behavioral sciences, with a grade of “C” or higher 
            •  

If you have an overall GPA between 2.75 and 2.99 and/or less than the required hours in the sciences, you may be eligible for the Alternative Admission Track Plan (AATP).  

Chiropractic school requirements for the AATP

  • 90 semester hours with a GPA of 2.75 or higher  
  • 12 semester hours in life and physical sciences preferred

* Depends upon math placement. Students who place in Mathematics 99 must complete this course before enrolling in Chemistry 111. Completion of SMTH 126+127 is required before enrolling in physics. Minimum grade of "C" necessary in all required courses. All science courses must have labs. In order to earn a bachelor's degree, a student needs to declare an Interdisciplinary Studies major and take advantage of the 3+1 program.
