Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice & Women's Studies
The Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice and Women's Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and the Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. Minors are offered in sociology, criminal justice, and women's and gender studies.Courses are also offered in geography and anthropology.

- Dr. Calvin Odhiambo had three papers recently published, in College Teaching and International Journal of Humanities and Social Science.
- Dr. Mary Sarver had her paper titled "Risk and Revocation in Community Corrections: The Role of Gender" accepted for publication in Probation Journal.
- Dr. Brigitte Neary, professor in USC Upstate’s Department of Sociology,
Criminal Justice, and Womens’ Studies, spent several weeks in Landau
this summer to establish the foundation for a sociology study abroad
course in Germany. Dr. Neary, a native of Germany, plans to offer
this three credit-hour course during the first 2012 summer session, May
28 – June 27. The program will immerse students in the society and
culture of Germany, and particularly the rich setting provided by the
Rhineland Palatinate location. The Universität Koblenz-Landau will serve

- Randi Hunton, who graduated magna cum laude from the Honors Program with
a B.A. in sociology is now in London to begin her graduate school
career. Randi has enrolled in the M.A. program in social research in the
