In this Internet activity, you will be exploring some of the symbols of South Carolina. Please follow directions carefully and answer the questions using complete sentences. This activity may take you several days to finish.

2. Click on the link for Seals, Flags, House & Senate Emblems, then click on the link for the State Seal. Look at the seal carefully. Describe it in words and then draw a picture of what you see. Write one fact that you learned. Click on the Back button in the upper left-hand corner of your monitor.
3. Click on the link for the State Flag. Describe it in words and then draw a picture of what you see. Read the paragraph below the flag and write one fact that you learned about the flag. Click on the Back button in the upper left-hand corner of your monitor. Click on the Back button again.
4. Click on the link for Plants and Edibles. Click on the link for Fruit-Peach. Why do you think that the peach the state fruit? Click on the Back button.
5. Click on the link for Beverage-Milk. In what year was milk made the state beverage? Click on the Back button.
6. Click on the link for Tree-Palmetto. Look at the picture of the Palmetto tree. In what states does this tree grow? (You will need to read the paragraphs below the picture to answer this question.) Write one fact that you learned about the Palmetto tree. Click on the Back button. Click on the Back button again.
7. Click on the link for Animals, Birds, Bugs and Other Living Creatures. Choose any two links from this site. Look at the pictures of the ones that you have chosen.
