Magdeburg, Germany

Germany

Less than an hour by train from Germany’s capital city, Berlin, lies the province of Sachsen-Anhalt.  The provincial capital is Magdeburg, a city of approximately 275,000 inhabitants located on the Elbe River, and the modern commercial and industrial center of a region rich in medieval history.   The town of Stendal, located about 30 miles from Magdeburg, is a charming Hanseatic League town of approximately 50,000 population.  Several monuments typical of Gothic brick architecture can be seen standing in the town today.  Both Magdeburg  and Stendal offer the possibility of many sporting venues and opportunities for recreation in the beautiful surrounding hills and dales.

Founded in 1991, Hochschule Magdeburg-Stendal has 2 campuses located in the adjoining cities of Magdeburg and Stendal.  The Magdeburg campus houses 5 colleges of study including Industrial Design and Engineering, Communication and Media, and Social and Health Sciences. The Stendal campus contains the 2 colleges of Business and Applied Human Sciences.  The combined campuses of the university welcome more than 6,000 students with approximately 4,800 in Magdeburg and 1,600 in Stendal.
