I am very, very pleased to welcome you to the South Carolina's Metropolitan University – the University of South Carolina Upstate. You have chosen an excellent institution of higher learning to pursue your educational goals. As a USC Upstate student, you will benefit from an educational environment committed to the total development of each and every student. You will have the advantage of small classes taught by competent, caring and dedicated faculty. Most of the faculty hold terminal degrees in their fields and are eager to assist students in a one-on-one basis as well as participate as advisors in various co-curricular student organizations.

USC Upstate has organized both its curricular and co-curricular programs to promote your intellectual, cultural, social, emotional and vocational development. Throughout your tenure at the University, emphasis will be placed on providing experiences for you which will enable you to grow interpersonally and professionally. In addition, the USC Upstate Student Handbook will acquaint you with the history, mission, goals, resources and regulations of importance to you as a USC Upstate student. Handbooks are available in the Campus Life Center at the Information Desk and in the Student Affairs Office, room 224. I encourage you to take time at your discretion to review your handbook very carefully and thoroughly.
