Echo360 - Lecture Capture

Overview: 

Echo360 Lecture Capture Platform has now changed to Echo360 Active Learning Platform. The new platform gives faculty and students the opportunity to increase interaction with course content while still doing the same tasks they’ve been able to do before this change. The old system will still be active until the end of the fall 2016 semester, but we recommend that all faculty and staff who use Echo360 create a login for the new system as soon as possible. Faculty and staff will receive an email with instructions for how to create their new password and where to login. Students who need to access Echo360 for their class can follow our online instructions


Features:

Personal Capture:

  • An interactive, user-friendly web interface for faculty and students
  • A new library feature inside the new web interface
  • More analytics that can be imported to BlackboardRecord content on a laptop or personal computer on or off campus
  • Simple editing and upload functionality
  • Publish content and share to Blackboard with a click of a button; or customize by sharing a link for anytime anywhere access by students

  • Record HD content within a classroom with no instructor intervention in the following classrooms:

      System Requirements:

      Camera and Microphone requirements for capturing Audio or Video:
      Echo personal capture can be used with a built-in (integrated) or external web camera (web cams). It uses Windows Media Encoder (WME) to recognize built in (integrated) web cameras (web cams) on laptops. WME does not recognize some webcams, causing some not to function. ITS recommends using the built in camera on USC Upstate issued laptops. If you do not have a USC Upstate issued laptop, or if the laptop does not have a built in camera you can either check out a web cam from the Help Desk or purchase a recommended web cam.


      Getting Started:

      • Please set up an “Echo360 Tool Link” on your Blackboard Course and create a username and password when prompted in the new Echo360 webpage.
      • You will also need to download the new Echo360 Personal Capture Application. Go to the Echo360 website, find “Downloads” under settings. Then, download the Mac or Windows version of “Personal Capture.” This will automatically uninstall your old application and replace it with the new application. 
      • If you want to have old personal capture recordings show up on the new system, you will have to republish them from your personal capture software. The publishing process is the same as it is for new recordings. If you have trouble locating your old recordings on your computer, please contact the Help Desk.

      Automatic Recording:

      The following classrooms on campus are equipped with Echo360 capture appliances for scheduled classroom recording: Media 220, 238 & 320, HEC 2005, HEC 2039, The George 260, Smith 320, Media 320, CLC Ballroom and CASB 117. These classrooms include cameras and microphones to record the faculty member (at the front of the room) and whatever is being displayed via projector. Fill out the form below to schedule an automatic recording. Specific arrangements to schedule a class in these rooms are handled through the office of the Registrar and are the responsibility of the faculty member and/or department.
