How to Install Microsoft Security Essentials

Microsoft Security Essentials is free virus software provided for PC's running a genuine copy of Windows. It is easy to install - even if your computer is quarantined from the USC Upstate wireless network you can still go to Microsoft.com.

  1. Go to Security Essentials download page 
  2. Click on Download (make sure to choose the 64-bit version if you have a 64-bit operating system)

  3. Click Run (if you have XP you may need to click Run twice)

  5. Click I accept

  6. Click Next

  7. Click Next

  8. Click Install

  9. Click Finish

  10. Security Essentials will now automatically update and scan your computer for viruses. You are now protected!
