Create or Reset Your Password Online
To create or reset your USC Upstate password online, you will need the following information. When you are ready to create or reset your password, click the Create or Reset My Password link below.
- Your USC Upstate username. Your username is the first part of your e-mail address (whatever comes before @email.uscupstate.edu). It is also the same as your Blackboard username. You can find your username by logging into VIP, clicking the Technology link on the left, and then choosing the Show Me Network Username option. Newly accepted students can find their username in their acceptance letter.
- Your VIP ID number or Password Reset Code. Your VIP ID is the eight-digit, randomly assigned number used to login to VIP instead of your USC ID (SSN). You can find your VIP ID number by logging into VIP, clicking the Personal link on the left, and then choosing the Show Me My VIP ID option. Newly accepted students can find their Password Reset Code in their acceptance letter. After entering your VIP ID number or Password Reset Code, complete the Turing Test by entering the sequence of characters found at the bottom of the page in the Word Verification section, as shown below. Once you have entered your VIP ID or Password Reset Code and completed the Word Verification, click the Continue button.
- An idea for a new password that is at least six characters in length.

USC Upstate's online password reset site will only work for currently enrolled students, newly accepted students, and students who have not been away from USC Upstate for more than a semester. If you are unable to reset your password online, you must come to the ITS Help Desk on campus in Administration 109 to reset your password in person. Make sure to bring your student ID card or driver's license. The ITS Help Desk is unable to reset passwords over the phone or via e-mail.
