The University of Applied Sciences Landshut, or Hochschule Landshut in German, was founded in 1987. Since that time it has grown to five colleges and almost 5,000 students while becoming one of the top ranked German universities of Applied Science. Small class sizes with practical, hands-on training are the basis for their interdisciplinary curriculum which was built to meet the demands of the ever-changing business landscape.
Located 45 miles away from the city of Munich, Landshut is in the southeastern German state of Bavaria. Known for it's Gothic architecture, the city provides a perfect backdrop to the Landshuter Hochzeit (Landshut Wedding) which is one of the largest historical pageants in all of Europe. The festival, which is held every four years due to the immense amount of planning needed, recreates life in the late Middle Ages around the time of a great wedding between the daughter of the Polish King and the son of the Duke of Landshut. While the city does hold historical value, there is plenty of modern industry, specifically in the area of automotive manufacturing, as Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) has a plant located within its borders.
Duel Degree Programs
A special exchange partnership has been set up with Hochschule Landshut to provide USC Upstate students the opportunity to receive a second bachelor's degree from the German university along with their Upstate degree. Students in the areas of business, computer science and informatics can travel to Landshut during their 7th and 8th semesters to study. Students will arrive in Landshut a few weeks before classes begin to receive a short-term, intensive German language course. After the completion of this one year program, students return to Upstate to finish their studies and upon graduation will receive the degree in their chosen program from USC Upstate as well as a bachelor's of science in their respective field from Landshut.
