This page is designed to give information about the USC Upstate Library's resources and services for USC Upstate students enrolled in courses offered through distance education, including courses offered at the University Center of Greenville, courses offered by the USC Upstate School of Education/USC-Sumter education program, the Mary Black School of Nursing RN to BSN Program, web-based courses offered on the internet, and courses offered at local high schools through "dual enrollment."

Access to many of the Library's resources and services requires a USC Upstate username and password and a Carolina One USC Upstate ID card.  Click here for username and password information.  Carolina One USC Upstate ID cards are made at the University Police Department on the USC Upstate Campus.

LIBRARY RESOURCES 

  • Library Catalog
    Locate books & videos / DVDs / CDs in the USC Upstate Library and other USC Libraries.  For delivery, see "Library Services" below.
  • Databases
    Locate articles from journals, magazines, and newspapers on a particular subject. Many databases include the full transcript of articles. Look at the description of the databases to see whether it contains fulltext.  Your USC Upstate username and password are required to access subscription databases.
  • Periodical Holdings
    Search the library's holdings of print and electronic periodicals via Journal Finder, which contains a listing of journals, magazines, and newspapers to which the USC Upstate Library subscribes, both in paper format and electronically. Delivery of photocopies of articles not available on the computer is available.  For delivery, see "Library Services" below.
  • Library Guides

  • Catalogs of Other S.C. Libraries 

LIBRARY SERVICES 

  • Request Delivery of Materials (books, videos/DVDs, copies of articles) OWNED by the USC Upstate Library using this request form.
  • Request Delivery of Books NOT OWNED by USC Upstate but owned by other South Carolina academic libraries through PASCAL Delivers.  Please note that when you search the USC Upstate Library catalog and your search finds no holdings, you may click the blue PASCAL button and the search will be conducted in the PASCAL database of SC academic libraries.  If one of the libraries has a book you want, click "request this item."  To make the request, you will be required to enter your name and the number on the back of your Carolina One USC Upstate ID card.  For information about delivery of books ordered through PASCAL, click here.
  • Request Delivery of Materials (books, copies of articles) NOT OWNED by USC Upstate and NOT available through PASCAL (S.C. academic libraries) by Interlibrary Loan.
  • Checkout Privileges at South Carolina academic libraries (Visiting Patron, a service of PASCAL).  You need your Carolina One USC Upstate ID card to check out books from other academic libraries in South Carolina.  Click here for a current list of participating libraries and their policies.
  • Renew books checked out from the USC Upstate Library online.  Books must be renewed before the due date.  From the USC Upstate Library catalog, click "My Account", enter your name and the number on the back of your Carolina One USC Upstate ID card.  Follow directions for renewing items.
