Academics
University South Carolina Upstate is committed to academic excellence in all its programs. This commitment is guaranteed whether your major is in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Education, the Mary Black School of Nursing, or the George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics. We pledge to work closely with you throughout your intellectual journey.
To complement our outstanding academic programs, the University provides several other educational resources and programs, including the University Library, the Honors Program, International Studies and Study Abroad programs, Women’s Studies Center, service learning and internships opportunities, and the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship, which provides students opportunities to engage in scholarly initiatives with faculty and staff. In the fall of 2006, USC Upstate began offering the National Competitive Scholarship Program where students can prepare to compete for Rhodes, Fulbright, Gates Cambridge, Eisenhower, Truman and other renowned national and international scholarship programs.
In addition to these programs, the University offers several important support services aimed at ensuring the success of our students: Center for Student Success, Writing Center, Office of Opportunity Networks, Career Services and two pre-college programs for admitted freshmen—Vanguard and Keystone. There are also several other support services in other divisions, including Student and Diversity Affairs, Information Technology and Services, and Athletics.
Our faculty, staff and administration stand ready to assist you in whatever ways possible. I wish you the very best in your intellectual journey at USC Upstate.
Sincerely,
Marsha Dowell, RN, Ph.D.
Interim Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
