Juror Pamela Franks, curator of academic initiatives at Yale University Art Gallery, selected only 20 works for exhibition from a total 179 entries. The exhibit opened on March 11 and continues through April 15.

What do you like most about USC Upstate?
I like the support system. I found that if you ask for help that there are sincere people here who are willing to lend a helping hand.
Little known fact:
My love for life is extraordinary: I love to
encourage, inspire, and help people endure . . . The Bible says the race is not given to the swift or the strong, but to the one that endures to the end.

Organizations involved with:
Collegiate 100, which is an organization that targets the hearts and minds of African American men and youth.

Gospel Choir, because of my love for my Lord and Savior and the fact that there is a need to touch peoples ’ lives and change their hearts . . . And there is always plenty of work to be done.

If you could meet one person in the world, who would it be?
I would have really liked to meet Dr. and Mrs. King so they could school me on how to bless the world through peace, love, and prosperity
.

Plans after graduation:
I’d like to attend graduate school, preferably in a major city, but I’ll go wherever the good Lord sends me.

Retired Equipment

It’s been a fixture in one of the campus buildings for 30 years now. Unfortunately, however, it had to be removed and a new one put in its place. “A lot of people are sentimental about this old thing,” says Rick Puncke, director of facilities management, as it was being hauled away. “We were unable to find parts for it because it’s so old, and so, it has to be retired,” he adds sadly.

What is this contraption, removed last week from the Administration building, which Puncke speaks so fondly of? If you know the answer, e-mail Claire Sachse in University Communications. The first four people with the correct response will be awarded a Celebrate Community long-sleeved T-shirt!
