Spine Tingling Poetry Slam
Saturday, February 24 … 7:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. … Showroom at Hub-Bub
Join the hottest upstate poets and wannabes at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic’s Spine Tingling Poetry Slamat Hub-Bub. Members of the audience and designated judges will evaluate poets for their three-minute, original constructions, without the use of props, costumes or musical instruments. The numerical scores the poets receive from the judges will be tallied, and the top three poets will be awarded cash prizes ($300, $200, $100.) Cover charge of $10 per person includes a t-shirt. Academic Reminders

Have a student who has excessive absences?
The Extended/Excessive Absence Report is now active and available on the Center for Student Success web site. Remember to use your normal campus username and password to get past the security wall.  Then you’ll be prompted for your SSN to show your current courses. The system is designed to alert students who have 1) never attended class but are listed on your roll, 2) have attended before but have been absent for an extended period of time or 3) have sporadic but excessive absences.  Each Friday, the student and course information is pulled and letters reminding the students of their status are sent home.  Please continue to report as frequent contact might encourage them to follow-up sooner.  Thank you for your participation as we work to “intervene early” with students who may be in jeopardy.  (Please note: The Unsatisfactory Progress Report portion of the Early Intervention Program will not be available until mid-semester.)   If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact Lori Holtmann, Coordinator of Student Success Initiatives at ext. 5049.

Don’t be tempted by those cold calls! You may on occasion get “cold calls” from sales reps trying to sell you items, typically office supplies at a deep discount.

  • Please ignore them and purchase supplies through your regular channels.
  • Never buy office supplies from a seller you don’t know.
  • If a company you do not know calls you about ordering supplies, say, "I'm not authorized to place orders. If you want to sell us something, you must contact our Purchasing department and get a purchase order."
  • If someone calls asking for the manufacturer and model of our copiers, refer them to the Purchasing Department. Be skeptical of "cold" or unsolicited calls and just say "no" to high pressure sales tactics. Legitimate companies don't use pressure to force a snap decision.
  • Fax back scams: Unsolicited faxes offer great deals on products, entry into competitions or huge discounts, but the potential high cost of replying to the fax are buried in the fine print or not provided at all. Don’t be tempted.

If you have any questions please call either Denis Ellinger at ext. 5771 or Elaine Reese at ext. 5232.
