Université de Caen Basse Normandie

The University of Caen Lower Normady, or Université de Caen Basse Normandie in French, has a rich history dating back to 1432 where it was originally constructed to be a school of law by King Henry VI of England. It was completely destroyed during World War II by aerial bombing runs. The reconstruction began in 1948 and the university adopted the logo of the mythical Phoenix to symbolize it's rise from the ashes.Today the institute is home to over 24,000 students and a faculty of over 1,600.
