The Chris Garden
USC Upstate Landscape Services and Campus Crusade for Christ teamed up to install one of the best landscapes on campus. The rock conifer garden is located on the lower quad, near the newly constructed waterfall and the business school in a high visibility area. The garden was constructed with funding from Campus Crusade for Christ and donations made in memory of Mary ‘Chris’ Suddeth, the late wife of Bruce Suddeth, director of Landscape Services.
Plant materials include a large conifer collection, perennials, and grasses, as well as large rock obtained from campus construction. The garden, located in a full sun area, encompasses two planted areas which straddle a large pedestrain sidewalk, for a total of _____ square feet of planting bed.
Here is a list of the plants in the Chris Garden. (This is an Excel file).
The lower quad area, where the Chris Garden is located, has also been revamped in recent months. New sidewalks and irrigation lines have been installed, and lots of new trees planted. Here is a list of the new plant materials on the lower quad.
