Culberson, Armstrong Atlantic State Win PBC Baseball Tournament

- The Armstrong Atlantic State Pirates got a complete-game performance from freshman pitcher Blake Culberson as they defeated the USC Aiken Pacers 5-2 to win the 2007 PBC Baseball Tournament Championship in Spartanburg on Friday.   The tournament title is the first for Armstrong Atlantic State in their PBC history and the Pirates, entering the tournament as the #5 seed, become the lowest-seeded team to win the tournament title.  AASU will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA South Atlantic Regional next week. Wilson Delivers Championship Game Spot for Pirates

Pacers Win Marathon Game Over Pirates

- Josh Eachues’ RBI single in the bottom of the 12th inning brought an end to a wild two-day baseball affair as the USC Aiken Pacers beat the Armstrong Atlantic State Pirates 11-10 on Sunday in the 2007 PBC Baseball tournament in Spartanburg.  With the win, the Pacers advance into the Championship game later on Sunday afternoon.  The Pacers trailed on three separate occasions during the game by as many as four runs. Columbus State Takes Thrilling Win, Eliminates Spartans

- After a weather delay that lasted over two hours, Columbus State and USC Upstate engaged in what has been the game of the tournament.  Brad Linton’s two-out RBI single in the top of the 10th was the difference as Columbus took a 7-6 victory to stay live and eliminate the Spartans from the Peach Belt Conference Baseball Tournament at Harley Park. USC Aiken Outlasts Francis Marion 7-5

- Ken Raborn’s triple in the bottom of the eighth inning sparked a two-run ouburst that propelled the USC Aiken Pacers to a 7-5 win over Francis Marion at the 2007 PBC Tournament on Saturday.  Raborn’s strike broke open a tied game and was followed by a double from Chad Jacobsen to give the Pacers the two-run victory. Columbus State Eliminates GCSU 6-4

- The Columbus State Cougars turned four double plays and sent the top seed in the 2007 PBC Tournament home with a 6-4 win in the first elimination game on Friday.  The Cougars stranded nine GCSU baserunners to improve to 42-16 on the season and remain alive in tournament play.  GCSU is the first team eliminated for the tournament and go home with a 44-14 overall record. - The Peach Belt Conference announced the 2007 baseball All-Conference team at a banquet in Spartanburg, S.C., site of the 2007 PBC Tournament.  Georgia College & State University’s Justin Mills was named the PBC Player of the Year while Francis Marion’s Dylan Owen was the Pitcher of the Year.  North Georgia’s Craig Brisson was the Freshman of the Year while his head coach, Tom Cantrell, was named the Coach of the Year. Peach Belt Releases Tournament Bracket

- The Peach Belt Conference released the 2007 Baseball Tournament bracket on Monday following the conclusion of the regular season over the weekend. Georgia College & State University, the 2007 PBC regular-season champions, take the top seed for the tournament while Columbus State will be the second seed and Francis Marion the #3 seed. The tournament will begin this Thursday, May 10, with GCSU taking on #6 seed USC Aiken. The tournament brings the top six teams in the PBC together for a double-elimination event with the winner getting an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. More Link
