USC Upstate Students Have Opportunity To “Park Green” For Habitat For Humanity

12- 02- 2008

Spartanburg, S.C. - Wouldn’t it be nice to not have to fight for a parking space next semester?  Want to “park green” in the faculty/staff spots?  Help out with our Habitat for Humanity fundraising efforts and you just might get the chance.

Park GreenThe entire student body at USC Upstate is eligible to receive a faculty/staff green parking sticker for the Spring 2009 semester by helping the University raise funds for the Habitat for Humanity house being constructed by the University 101 students and other student leaders.

“The house was moved from campus to its permanent location in October but unfortunately production has stopped due to a shortage of funds,” said Louise Ericson, associate athletics director for academics.  “We can really make an impact in the lives of the Bigsby family, who are hoping to move into their new house this spring. To make this dream possible, we are asking students to help.”

The pay off for students is the chance to win two faculty/staff green parking stickers.  If you want earn a sticker outright, just be the student who raises the most money from December 2, 2008 until January 15, 2009.  Or, for every $10 you raise, your name will be entered into a drawing for a chance at the second sticker.  The more money you raise, the more times your name will be entered into the drawing.

The two student winners will be announced at the Spartans home men’s basketball game vs. Belmont University on Saturday, January 17 at 1:00 pm.  The halftime promotions will focus solely on our Habitat initiative and two lucky students will walk away with the prized faculty/staff green parking stickers.
