Spartanburg, S.C. - What happens when the son of one of Atlanta’s high society families announces his engagement to a Hooters girl? Mix in an alcoholic grandmother, cheating husband, carb-counting daughter, the oldest gay son and a maid as a guest worker from across the border, and this blueblood Buckhead family wedding becomes a true Peachtree Battle.
A long-running hit with Atlanta theatre-goers, the Shoestring Players at the University of South Carolina Upstate, will stage their version of this hilarious Habersham family comedy, written by playwrights John Gibson and Anthony Morris, on August 21, 22, 27-29 at 8:00 p.m. and August 23 at 3:00 p.m. in the Humanities and Performing Arts Center Theatre. The show is being produced by special arrangement with Ansley Park Playhouse in Atlanta, Ga.
The cast is made up of USC Upstate students, alumni and community members and will star Mariam Alsabbah as Marta, Jane Bird as Trudy, Michael Chastain as Sherwood, Noelle Collins as Candler, Ahsha Daniels as Tiffani, Betty Koester as Azalea, Richard Mahler as Ansley, and Benjamin E. Sickles as Holcomb.
