Spartanburg, S.C. - The Reel Genders International Film Series is returning to University of South Carolina Upstate this fall with an interesting lineup of movies that explore gender roles through films from around the world. The series begins on Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m. with the film L'Iceberg (Belgium, 2005). In this film a fast food manager gets locked inside a walk-in freezer overnight and finds out the truth about female frigidity.
Beautiful Thing (England, 1996) will be shown on Thursday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m. It explores the story of two working class boys who face bullies and abusers, and take refuge in the unexpected romantic bond that forms between them.
And on Thursday, November 5, Talk to Her (Spain, 2002) will be shown at 7:00 p.m. This film details how the communication gap between the sexes is not easily resolved when your partner is in a coma...or is it?
