Spartanburg, S.C. - Several gospel choirs from area universities and churches will come together on Sunday, September 27, 2009 to raise money for two charities. The Gospel Choir Explosion will be held in the Campus Life Center Ballroom on the campus of the University of South Carolina Upstate starting at 5:00 p.m. Admission is $2 at the door and all proceeds will be donated to two charities. The event is sponsored by the Collegiate Women of the Upstate and the men of Alpha Phi Alpha.
Featured university choirs are the University of South Carolina Upstate Gospel Choir, from USC Upstate; Furman University Gospel Ensemble, from Furman University in Greenville, S.C.; and the YGB Young Gifted and Blessed Choir from Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C.
The Praise Team from Cornerstone Baptist Church, located in Spartanburg, and soloist JaMarquis Littlejohn will also perform.
The charities that will benefit from the Gospel Choir Explosion are the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington D.C. and the Children Shelter of the Upstate, in Spartanburg.
Donations will also be accepted from any club, group or organization that would like to contribute.
