Spartanburg, S.C. - The University of South Carolina Upstate campus community is mourning the loss of Daniel Brian Groshans, a 19 year-old freshman from Rock Hill. Daniel died suddenly on Saturday, February 13.
“The campus community is saddened by this tragic and untimely death,” said Dr. John Stockwell, USC Upstate chancellor. “Daniel was well-loved by his fraternity brothers, friends and classmates and will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathies are with his loved ones.”
A Candlelight Vigil to memorialize Daniel will be held on Monday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Campus Life Center Ballroom.
Daniel, a graduate of South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, was a psychology major and a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He is survived by his parents, Laura and Scott Groshans and a brother, Aaron.
The family will receive friends at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel in Rock Hill on Thursday, February 18 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel in Rock Hill. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 19 at 4:00 p.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church.
