Business Major Receives Scholarship From SC Banker’s Association

Spartanburg, S.C. - Wiseman Chimbani, a senior majoring in accounting at the George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics at the University of South Carolina Upstate, recently received a $3,000 scholarship from the South Carolina Banker’s Association. Criteria for the scholarship included: a GPA of 3.5 or higher, majoring in accounting or finance, letter of recommendation from the Dean, and a desire to pursue a career in banking. Chimbani, who is originally from Botswana, Africa, plans to remain in the U.S. and pursue a degree in asset management after he graduates from USC Upstate in May.

Cronin Jr., CPA and instructor of accounting in the Johnson College of Business and Economics at USC Upstate. “In addition to focusing on his own studies, he is also involved with tutoring underclass accounting students so they too can succeed.”
