Spartanburg, S.C. – The Center for Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of South Carolina Upstate will host a new series entitled “Monday Night Feminism.” The series will be devoted to various topics in global and American feminisms and is sponsored by Upstate Feminists, a group that does sustained work on campus in consciousness-raising about feminism around the world, and communicates in clear and energetic terms how feminism is relevant to today's college-age men and women.
The series kicks off on Monday, January 29 at 4:30 p.m. with a discussion that will explore South African feminisms, the goals and successes to date of the movement, gender and HIV/AIDS, etc. The location is the G.B. Hodge Center, Room 155.
Stacey Haney, a USC Upstate student and president of Upstate Feminists, will lead the discussion. Haney’s research on the topic focuses on the past 10 years of the feminist movement in South Africa.
