Tips for Registration
How did I get in this course ?
Don’t get confused and “accidentally” register for a course off campus.
- Section numbers are important!
- The first digit signifies the location where the course is to be taught
- Examples:
- SPSY w101 section 101 is taught at USC Upstate at night
- SECF w329 section 800 is taught at Sumter during the day

How can I verify my schedule?
Students should check their class schedule on VIP after registration, at mid-term and prior to final exams to verify they are attending the classes they registered for. Any discrepancies should be reported to the Records Office.
How do I avoid having my classes cancelled?
To avoid having your schedule cancelled for nonpayment make sure your fees are paid and/or your financial aid applied by the deadline. When you pay on the Web, you will receive a payment transaction number (similar to a receipt) that assures you that your bill has been paid via VIP and “locks in” your classes.
Note: For the fall 2010 semester, all Business (SBAD) and economics (SECO) courses will be taught on the downtown campus of the George D. Johnson College of Business. These sections all begin with the number 7. Additionally, a select number of general education or elective courses may be taught at that location. These will also have a section number beginning with a seven.
