The rise of the global economy has already had a profound effect on Upstate South Carolina: there is more per capita foreign investment in the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson metropolitan area than anywhere else in the United States. As international business activity grows, many have questions about what lies ahead for the region, the local economy and the people who call the Upstate home.
Featured speaker Erik Peterson is Senior Vice President at the Center for Strategic
and International Studies, a non-profit, non-partisan think tank based in Washington, D.C. He is also Director of the CSIS Global Strategy Institute, and oversees the “Seven Revolutions Initiative,” an internationally recognized effort to identify and
project global trends out to the year 2025. He will be speaking on the realities of
globalization in today’s economy.
Panelists will include Dr. Andrew A. Sorensen, president of The University of South Carolina,
Sky Foster of BMW, and Bern McPheely of Har tness International. The Honorable
William Barnet, III, mayor of Spartanburg, will ser ve as moderator.
RSVP by e-mailing upstateconf@uscupstate.edu.
