Andre Fortune, Ph.D.

Dr. André L. Fortune joined USC Upstate as vice chancellor for Student Affairs in July 2019.

As the chief Student Affairs officer, Dr. Fortune provides visionary leadership and management of units in the university’s Division of Student Affairs, and working collaboratively to transform the student experience at USC Upstate.

Fortune previously served as assistant vice president of the University of Texas at Arlington; assistant vice chancellor for Student Affairs, and director of academic success, intercultural services and the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; and assistant director of multicultural programming and recruitment, and an admissions counselor at the University of Kansas.

The first-generation college graduate and native of Kansas City, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at The University of Kansas, and his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Higher Education from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Fortune enjoys spending time with his wife and their three wonderful children. When not spending time with family or on campus, he likes volunteer coaching, reading, golf, basketball, and visiting amusement parks.
