Khrystal Smith

Dr. Khrystal Smith was named interim dean of students at USC Upstate in January 2019. Since 2015, she has served as the university’s assistant dean of students and director of student life where she oversees several programs: campus programs, fraternity and sorority life, homecoming, student media, lectures, leadership programs, multicultural programs, non-traditional student services, and registered student organizations.

Smith joined USC Upstate in 2009 as the director of student life. During her time at the university, Smith has also provided supervision to the Office of Service-Learning and Community Engagement, and advised the Campus Activities Board, Freshman Leadership Experience, Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, and the Student Government Association.

She earned her Ph.D. in counseling and student personnel services from the University of Georgia; a Master of Arts degree in communication from the University of Maryland; and a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications from Winston-Salem State University.
