"Get involved. My second year I worked on campus and I was involved in several organizations and that’s when my college experience really started."

Itzel Tello, a junior, is pursuing a major in communication studies with a minor in Pre-Law. She is a second-year resident adviser for USC Upstate Housing and Residential Life, a Chancellor's Fellow, and serving as a legislative intern with Dr. Alphonso Atkins, the university’s Chief Diversity Officer. Tello is also a member of the Hispanic Awareness Association on campus. After she graduates in spring 2020, Tello aspires to earn a law degree from Duke University and to practice in family court.
