Dr. Stephen Bismarck earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in mathematics education at the University of Georgia. He joined USC Upstate in 2013 as an assistant professor of middle/secondary mathematics education and has taught undergraduate and graduate courses that focus on the teaching and learning of mathematics. He received the Excellence in Teaching and Advising Award in 2018 and is currently chair of the Education Department. Thanks to Dr. Bismarck’s efforts, USC Upstate was recently awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation to assist students interested in pursuing a degree in STEM and secondary education.
