Annual gifts directed to an Excellence Fund enables you to make an immediate impact in allowing the University to seize opportunities and address unforeseen challenges. The USC Upstate Excellence Fund supports the Universities area of greatest need, which allows for the largest source of unrestricted support.
As a result of these gifts, the university is able to enhance the quality of its programs and provide students with professional development opportunities. It can support outstanding faculty and research endeavors, and engage alumni and friends in its activities. Allowing gifts to be unrestricted enables excellence funds to offer extreme flexibility to their designations.
EXCELLENCE FUNDS
USC Upstate Excellence Fund
* Area of Greatest Need
The USC Upstate Excellence Fund supports all aspects of the University and is the primary channel for donors to support the University’s greatest needs. Gifts to this fund are used to support various initiatives and programs across campus. Additionally, the USC Upstate Excellence Fund allows the University to respond quickly to emerging needs or unexpected opportunities, which awards the University with extreme flexibility.
General Scholarship Excellence Fund
The General Scholarship Fund is designed to provide financial support to students who demonstrate both merit and need. The funds are intended to help cover the costs of tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with attending college.
Chancellor’s Excellence Fund
The Chancellor’s Excellence Fund provides the Chancellor at USC Upstate with the capacity to launch special initiatives or to capitalize on opportunities that propel the University towards excellence.
College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Science Excellence Fund
The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Science Excellence Fund provides support to the University’s fine and performing arts, humanities, and social sciences. Donations to this Excellence Fund allow this program to continue offering a mix of traditional liberal arts with innovative problem-solving skills for students. The flexibility of this fund grants faculty the ability to expand their teachings through engaging dialogue, critical thinking, and compassionate instruction, that has a direct impact on students.
College of Business and Economics Excellence Fund
The George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics Excellence Fund provides critical support to enhance the student experience by providing the resources necessary for classroom success, internships, and business and economic fields. Donations to this Excellence Fund support a wide range of initiatives that will help students gain the necessary skills and knowledge for the workforce, and help Faculty stay up-to-date on the latest business practices.
College of Education, Human Performance and Health Excellence Fund
The College of Education, Human Performance, and Health Excellence Fund provides support to the University’s programs for future educators and health practitioners in the community. Unrestricted gifts to this fund award the students with resources and opportunities they need to succeed in their studies and their future careers, helping to enhance the reputation and profile of the College and supporting the development of future leaders in these fields.
College of Nursing Excellence Fund
The Mary Black College of Nursing Excellence is a fund designed to support the university’s nursing program and its students by providing funding for state-of-the-art technology and equipment for nursing students. Unrestricted gifts to this fund allow the College of Nursing the flexibility to direct funds where they are most needed, which ensures nursing students have the resources and opportunities they need to succeed in their studies, in clinical practice, and in their future careers.
College of Science and Technology Excellence Fund
The College of Science and Technology Excellence Fund provides much need unrestricted funding to STEM programs and students. Gifts made to this Excellence Fund awards students with cutting-edge technology in a fast-growing field, all while providing highly qualified faculty and staff with the resources they needed to teach in this field. Additionally, this Excellence Fund gives much needed flexibility in an ever-changing field of study.
University College Excellence Fund
The University College Excellence Fund supports the much need for academic support services and special academic programs. Gifts made to this Excellence Fund help create an exceptional learning experience for students by providing educational and career resources. In addition, this fund helps students succeed in their academic endives and rewards those who achieve in their studies. University College offers students a unique college experience through its honor programs, where the curriculum is designed to prepare them for lifelong learning and achievement.
University Libraries Excellence Fund
The University Libraries Excellence Fund supports all aspects of the USC Upstate Library. This includes funding for the acquisition of new books, periodicals, Journals and or needed upgrades to library computers and equipment. Gifts to this fund help in the upkeep of individual study rooms, computer labs, and interactive study boards used by both Faculty and Students. In addition, these funds will help expand the already impressive collection of printed volumes for pick-up as well as online e-book available fall all to use.
Student Affairs Excellence Fund
Through the Student Affairs Excellence Fund, USC Upstate is able to fund organizations that assist students in developing their skills to enhance their future careers. Gifts made to this Excellence Fund support programs like Counseling, Health, and Disability Services as well as Campus Recreation and Student Engagement and Retention Initiatives. In addition, the success to the Student Affairs Excellence Fund helps these different programs of the University to provide a more well-rounded experience for all students.
Athletics Excellence Fund (U-Club)
The Athletics Excellence Fund is designed to support the university’s athletic programs and student-athletes by providing scholarship support, facility and equipment upgrades, and program support. Unrestricted gifts to this fund allow the Upstate Athletic department the flexibility to direct funds where they are most needed in athletics.
