Where to give
At USC Upstate, you have the option to direct your gift to more than 400+ funds, including athletics, programs, and scholarships. Several popular funds are listed below:
This Upstate Fund provides unparalleled support to address University priorities and initiatives that are not covered by other forms of support. Such discretionary resources are a powerful form of private support because they enable the University to have maximum flexibility to use the funds where they are needed most to advance the mission of the institution.
Private support for our 17 NCAA Division I Spartans Athletics teams enhances the student-athlete experience at USC Upstate, allows for competition at the highest level in the Big South Conference, and assists with recruitment of talented athletes. We define the student-athlete experience in three ways: Academically, athletically, and socially. We want our student-athletes to leave their alma mater with a meaningful degree in their left hand, championship ring on their right, and equipped to have a productive life and contribute to our society. Whether your support comes in the form of an annual contribution, naming rights, capital project, or endowed scholarship, your support matters.
The University continues to respond to the educational needs of the community and represents the only 4-year regional university servicing the Upstate region. Our academic programs – both undergraduate and graduate – are top notch and characterized by excellence thanks to the talented and dedicated faculty of teacher-scholars who provide students with an engaged, state-of-the-art approach to learning. Challenging academic courses, small class sizes and personalized experiences are at the hallmark of USC Upstate. Your gift will further enhance the University’s mission in its pursuit of academic excellence.
Scholarship gifts, whether annual or endowed, represent a commitment to the future of students at USC Upstate. With 85% of our graduates living and working in the Upstate after completing their coursework, your investment in these students is a direct investment in the future of our community.
Scholarships provide deserving students with an opportunity to further their education and grant them the necessary tools to make a better life for themselves and their families.
Annual scholarships, which require a gift from the donor each year, are critical as USC Upstate strives to offer students a quality, low-cost education. With an annual gift of $2,500 or more, a donor may establish an annual scholarship in their name or in honor or in memory of a loved one.
Endowed scholarships are made possible by the generosity of friends and alumni. As permanent funds, they are critical to USC Upstate because they generate predictable, growing streams of income in perpetuity. A minimum of $25,000 is required to endow a scholarship and may be given as a one-time gift or pledged over a 5-year period. Contributions to any of the previously established endowed scholarships are welcome.
The Family Fund is an annual giving campaign that offers USC Upstate faculty, staff, and retirees the opportunity to make personal gifts to the university.
As USC Upstate faculty and staff, you invest your time and talents in the University and our students everyday. When you extend your contributions to include philanthropy, you express your belief in your University. Every contribution, no matter what size, adds value and strength to the USC Upstate campus and enables us to better serve our students! The Family Fund Council encourages you to join our campaign and take advantage of this opportunity to showcase the strength of our community.
