Curriculum Vitae for Richard L. Routh, Ph.d.

Richard L. (Ric) Routh teaches full-time in the Department of Informatics, University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Routh is also a current faculty member of the Philip Institute where he teaches courses in the ancient Greek language, Bible translation and in old church writings such as Martin Luther’s Commentary on the Epistle to the Galatians. Routh is an active New Testament Bible translator and has produced various works of translation of the original Greek manuscripts into modern English.

He has held positions in the corporate world as President and Vice President of the GINESYS Corporation—a small software development and consulting firm that developed strategic IT systems for a variety of large and small companies throughout the 1990s. While at GINESYS, he also supervised the creation and operation of a highly successful (and profitable) dot.com business in the sporting goods market niche.

After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York in 1978, he served for ten years as an officer in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. During these ten years he held positions as the founder and first Director of the Army’s Artificial Intelligence Training Facility, Adjunct Technical Advisor on Artificial Intelligence matters to the Cabinet of the President of the United States, Battalion Operations Officer, Platoon Leader, Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Commanding General of the Army Communication Command, and Computer Performance Analyst for Army telecommunication computers.

Dr. Routh has a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence (from A.F.I.T. in 1985), an M.S. in Computer Systems (from A.F.I.T. in 1983), an M.A. in Business Management (from the University of Phoenix, Sierra Vista Campus in 1982) and a B.S. in Applied Engineering (from U.S.M.A. at West Point in 1978).

He is married to the former Edith C. Nichols of Savannah, Georgia. They have five children and make their home on a ranch in the mountains of western North Carolina near the town of Rutherfordton, NC.
