University College of Dublin

Founded in 1854, the University College of Dublin (UCD) is located on a 330 acre campus 2.5 miles from the Dublin city center. The university is ranked in the top 1% of higher education institutions globally (154th worldwide; 66th in Europe), almost a quarter of their faculty are international, and has a student body of over 32,000 composed of 127 nationalities. 

The city of Dublin has an "official" history which dates back over a millennium (988 AD), but it's roots can be traced to prehistoric times. Originally a Viking settlement, it is now a modern and global city with incredible diversity which is reflected in its Alpha- ranking by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network. This designation places Dublin among the top 30 cities in the world.
