World Languages Institute

The World Languages Institute (WLI) of the Center for International Studies at USC Upstate establishes a gateway for the greater upstate community to explore various languages spoken throughout the world. WLI program consists of a number of 5-week language courses, including, and not limited to: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, Farsi, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Ukranian.  These courses are offered for personal enrichment, not for academic credits. The Center for International Studies will issue a “Certificate of Recognition” to participants who successfully complete their chosen language course. WLI classes meet either twice per week for one hour of instruction, or weekly for a 2-hour class during a 5-week term. Two 5-week terms are offered in the spring and fall semesters.

WLI courses are a lifelong investment for learners who are interested in international travel, or improving their cross-cultural communication skills, or wish to enhance their employability in an increasingly global marketplace. The upstate region of South Carolina is an increasingly international and diverse community; learning another language is a meaningful step towards becoming an engaged "glocal" citizen.

Online registration is open for select language classes offered during > Fall-1 Term (closed) and Fall-2 Term
