World Languages Institute
The World Languages Institute (WLI) of the Center for International Studies at USC Upstate establishes a gateway for the greater upstate community to explore various languages spoken throughout the world. WLI program consists of a number of 5-week language courses, including, and not limited to: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Turkish, and Ukranian. These courses are offered for personal enrichment, not for academic credits. The Center for International Studies will issue a “Certificate of Recognition” to participants who successfully complete their chosen language course.
WLI courses are a lifelong investment for learners who are interested in international travel, or improving their cross-cultural communication skills, or wish to enhance their employability in an increasingly global marketplace. The upstate region of South Carolina is an increasingly international and diverse community; learning another language is a meaningful step towards becoming an engaged "glocal" citizen.
