Scene plays out at the Child Protection Training Center

Child Advocacy

Welcome to the Center for Child Advocacy Studies!

The center was founded in 2010 to spearhead an initiative with a focus on tackling child abuse in our community. The initiative is directed to student and community education.

First, we provide oversight and support for the 21-hour interdisciplinary minor in Child Advocacy Studies for undergraduates. We also oversee a 15-hour post baccalaureate certificate program in Child Advocacy Studies designed for professionals who are already working in the child protection field and wish to develop greater knowledge and skills, or for individuals who are preparing for a career in this area.

Second, the center provides community education and training through our Child Protection Training Center (CPTC). The CPTC includes a mock training house as well as the Charles J. Hodge Mock Courtroom and Poliakoff Jury Deliberation Room for experiential training opportunities. We host an annual conference with a full day of continuing education with national experts for a variety of child protection professionals serving the needs of our children. We host awareness events and provide other evidence based training opportunities throughout the year.

If you would like more information, email me. I look forward to hearing from you!
