A LETTER FROM THE DEAN

Whether you are a new or continuing student, a future student, or a parent, you are part of our campus and College community. I have the honor and privilege of serving as the Dean of the College, where we are committed to inspiring students and transforming their lives through education.

We offer 11 majors and 30 minors in the fine and performing arts, the humanities, and the social sciences. These are the “majors that make a difference,” with each contributing to the quality of life of individuals, families, and our communities. Our major programs offer a mix of traditional liberal arts disciplines with programmatic innovationsat the cutting edge of their fields. Certificates in German Studies and Written Communications, and minors in Child Advocacy Studies and Pre-Laware examples of curricular innovations that prepare students for continued study or for their careers. I encourage you to explore our departments’ websites to learn more about our programs.

Our global curriculum is developed and taught by engaged, world-class faculty who are committed to the success of our students. These outstanding faculty provide experiential learning opportunities—internships, service learning, faculty-sponsored creative projects and scholarship—that enhance students’ learning and college experience.

Thank you for visiting our website. The Faculty in the College are here to guide and support you as you choose a major in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, and throughout your academic career at USC Upstate. Your education will be life-changing, as we Move Up Together!
