Division of Mathematics and Computer Science
The Division of Mathematics and Computer Science provides access to “smart” classrooms with multimedia capabilities, well-equipped computer labs, an undergraduate research lab and computer science tutoring lab. Ongoing discussions with area industry leaders influence the ever-changing curriculum in computer science and computer information systems. The industry connection also helps provide training for computer science and CIS majors.
Our Programs
A comprehensive curriculum, strong faculty and small classes combine to provide an excellent program for students who choose to major in mathematics or computer science. Four degree programs are available:
- The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics
- The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
- The Bachelor of Arts in Computer Information Systems
- The Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity

Tier 1 SAS Academic Specialization in Data Analytics
The USC Upstate Division of Mathematics and Computer Science and SAS, a worldwide leader in analytics, have partnered to offer a digital badge in Tier 1 SAS Academic Specialization in Data Analytics.
Successful completion of a SAS Academic Specialization gives students a competitive advantage in the job market, and they also earn the digital badge that allows them to share their achievement online in a way that is trusted and can be easily verified by employers.
To qualify for the badge, students must complete
- STAT 301: Statistical Computing,
- MATH 315: Statistical Methods I, and
- STAT 516: Statistical Methods II.
