Great things are always happening at Scholars Academy and we want our students and parents to stay informed. Below you will find a variety of information to keep you connected throughout the school year.
Summer Reading Assignments:
Orientation:All Scholars must attend the Scholars Academy Orientation
on Tuesday, August 11, in the Tukey
Theater at USC Upstate. It is on the first floor of the Library building. A map of the campus can be viewed at
Please attend per this schedule:
Everything you need to know to start the new school
year at The Scholars Academy will be discussed at this orientation.
At least one parent is encouraged to attend with each student. Handbooks, a detailed schedule for the first week and the final fall schedule will be presented along with important program information. Bring a pen to complete some final forms as well. You should also attend the orientation
and registration sessions at your own school.
College Forum:All Scholars Academy juniors and seniors and their parents are invited to a free seminar on the college and scholarship process held at orientation from 4-5 pm August 11 in the Tukey Theater. This seminar is one of two in the College Forum series presented by SC Test Prep
founders Rob Welborn and Derrick Smith of Spartanburg and Melissa DeLoach. The second seminar will be held on October 5 and will include the final tips for success in the process of college and scholarship applications. These are 2 different seminars for Scholars only. (Due to limited space and applicability
of information, freshmen and sophomore Scholars are not included in this forum. It will be repeated in subsequent years for those Cohorts.)
Student Activity Fee:
All Scholars are required to pay a $15 student activity fee which will allow them to participate in all the seminars, speakers, booths, activities, food, t-shirts, etc., that are offered free to college students on campus throughout the year. This is a tiny fraction of the
fees regular college students pay which fund these student events and services. This fee will be collected at the beginning of each school year and covers both semesters.
Scholars should pay this year’s $15 fee at orientation on August
11. Checks should be made out to USC Upstate.
First Week of School:You should report to USC Upstate per the following schedule:
