Psychology – Bachelor of Science (B.S.)
"I chose sociology and psychology so I could advocate for children."
-Nicole Hazard | Psychology Major
Those who are called to the field of psychology and counseling are compelled by a desire to help others and positively impact lives in their community. The Psychology program is designed to foster that desire and empower you to realize that dream of serving the needs of others.
A broad, high-impact learning experience focused on healing and helping.
The program is characterized by small classes where seasoned, expert faculty can work individually with students, understand their strengths and areas for improvement, and shape experiential learning opportunities around their distinct interests. Students explore the broad range of specializations, including neuroscience, cognition, disorders, and counseling. And experiential learning opportunities include internships, service learning, and research.
As a graduate of the program you’ll be prepared to enter the field directly, working in any number of professional settings counseling individuals and/or groups. Or you can join other graduates of Upstate’s program who have been accepted at outstanding graduate institutions to pursue their master’s and/or doctorate.
