Studying Commercial Music at USC Upstate is the first step in building your music career. With a Bachelor of Arts degree from Upstate, you’ll get performing experience to build your musicianship. You’ll get hands-on music technology training with industry-standard production tools. You’ll get the business savvy and communications skills to get yourself noticed.

Our students get real-world experience as musicians in one of four performing groups:

  • Commercial Music Combo
  • Gospel Choir
  • Jazz Combo
  • Upstate Vocal Ensemble

Music Technology

Our students gain hands-on experience with industry standard audio equipment and production software:

  • Recording studio with 32-track digital mixer
  • 20-workstation computer lab with AVID Pro Tools and Ableton Live software
  • 60-seat recital hall with 18-channel wireless digital mixing board and in-ear monitor system
  • 444-seat proscenium theatre with digital lighting and mixing boards

Qualified music majors can audition for financial assistance, including:
