Health Information Management (B.A.) at USC Upstate

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health Information Management (HIM) is designed to provide students with the requisite knowledge and essential skills to be a health information administrator in a variety of settings such as hospitals, insurance companies, and government agencies. With a focus on electronic health information management, the degree program utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to its curriculum, emphasizing health data management, informatics, finance, information systems, and administrative and clinical knowledge.

Outcomes from the most recent program review include:

  • 100% of our grads are employed in the field and 100% sat for and passed the RHIA exam.
  • The student retention rate for this program during 2020 remained at 100%.
  • Students successfully completing this CAHIIM-accredited program are eligible to take the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) exam offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
  • Each program completes a yearly Annual Program Assessment (APAR).
