Palmetto College

Thank you for your interest in the University of South Carolina’s Palmetto College. This initiative brings together the resources of the entire University of South Carolina system to combine the quality of a USC degree with the flexibility of online learning. Palmetto College offers an affordable, convenient method for students to complete a bachelor’s degree while accommodating other commitments such as their jobs and families.

Students who have earned at least 60 hours of college credit and have met degree grade point requirements can pursue a range of bachelor's degrees online. Students who have not earned 60 hours of college credit and/or satisfied general education requirements should speak with an advisor about options available to them for admission.

RN-BSN, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Program Overview

The RN-BSN program is designed to help registered nurses earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing in as little as one year.

Prerequisites & Requirements

Students must be an RN with an unencumbered license.

Upper division RN-BSN courses: 32 hours
Transfer credit awarded for basic RN courses: 35 hours
Prerequisite general education courses: 61 hours
Total program requirements: 128 hours
GPA: 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale)

Program Length

Full time students should complete the program in about one year. Part-time students may take two years to complete the program.

Students must have 45-60 hours of college credit to apply for this online degree completion program.  

Total requirements for this degree: 120 hours
Major requirements available online: 60+ hours
GPA: 2.0 on a 4.0 scale

Program Length

Full time students should complete the program in approximately two years. Working students may need to attend classes part time and take a lighter course load.

Bachelor of Arts in Information Management and Systems

Program Overview

Information Management and Systems majors will become trained professionals who understand and manage information, its systems of storage, retrieval and analysis as well as how to use this information to add value to their organization by helping them to save money or make more money.

Program Length

Completion time varies based on already accumulated general education credits, and courses necessary to complete major concentration. The degree requires a total of 120 credit hours, 45 of which are in the major degree study area. It is up to the student and advisor to decide the appropriate number of hours to take each semester.
