Online Degree Completion at USC Upstate

Thank you for your interest in the University of South Carolina Upstate’s Palmetto College programs. This initiative brings together the resources of the entire University of South Carolina system with four universities and several two-year campuses statewide to provide the most in-demand degrees within miles from home.

These online degree-completion programs combine the quality of a USC System degree with the flexibility of online learning. They offer an affordable, convenient method for students to complete a bachelor’s degree while accommodating jobs, families, and other commitments.

Students who have earned 45-60 hours of college credit and have met degree grade point requirements can pursue a range of bachelor's degrees online. Students should speak with an advisor about options for starting an online program.

USC Upstate Palmetto College Offerings

RN-BSN, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Program Overview

The RN-BSN program is designed to help registered nurses earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing in as little as one year.

Prerequisites & Requirements

Students must be an RN with an unencumbered license.

Upper division RN-BSN courses: 32 hours
Transfer credit awarded for basic RN courses: 33 hours
Prerequisite general education courses: 61 hours
Total program requirements: 126 hours
GPA: 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale)

Program Length

Full time students should complete the program in about one year. Part-time students may take two years to complete the program.

Program Overview

Program Overview

Information Management and Systems majors will become trained information technology professionals who understand and manage information, manage and develop systems of storage, retrieval and analysis as well as use information to help organizations save money and achieve goals. While computer science majors design hardware and software, information management and systems majors apply technology tools to careers in data warehousing, human-machine interaction, big data, e-commerce, computer forensics and cybersecurity.

Bachelor of Arts in Health Informatics

Program Overview

From electronic health records and health information security to quality management and risk management, health informatics drive quality of care throughout our health systems today. Students in the Health Informatics online degree-completion program develop an understanding of health information management (HIM), computer technology, information management, information processing technology, communications, information resources administration, and the management of health information systems.

The program provides graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to design, develop, and manage health information systems for hospitals and other healthcare providers by combining concepts in healthcare, information technology, and leadership.

Program Length

Full-time students should complete the program in approximately two years. Working students may need to attend classes part-time and take a lighter course load.

Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology Management

Program Overview

Students who have already earned an ABET-accredited associate’s degree in Engineering Technology may earn the Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology Management in order to take their careers to the next level and move into leadership and management positions in engineering technology. With a focus on decision-making and quality management, the major in Engineering Technology Management prepares graduates to analyze and manage engineering costs, teams, and projects.
