Pre-Physical Therapy

Physical therapy degree programs require a bachelor's degree as part of the admission process. USC Upstate's Pre-Physical Therapy program course work leads to a Bachelor of Science in Biology and meets entry requirements for physical therapy programs. There are two physical therapy degree programs offered in South Carolina.

The University of South Carolina (USC) and Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) each offer a Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT), which provides a curriculum leading to a doctorate degree. Graduates will be prepared to contribute to the physical therapy profession as a clinical practitioner, as a faculty member and/or as a researcher.

It is important to note that significant documented volunteer experience working under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist may be required prior to admission, particularly for the MUSC program.

For more information on the physical therapy field, see the Bureau of Labor and Statistics.
